How Our Online EMT Course Works

Our program runs in monthly cohorts that start on the 1st of each month. Late registration is available until the 14th.
-
Register before the 1st day of a new cohort: You’ll start with the cohort you registered for, and your access code is emailed on the 1st of that month.
-
Late registration for an ongoing cohort (between the 1st and 14th): You’ll receive your access code within 3 business days. Regardless of when you register, your course timeline (see Course Overview page) is based off of the first day of the cohort (the 1st day of the month).
-
Register after the 14th: You’ll only be eligible to register for a future month’s cohort and will receive your access code when your chosen cohort begins.
Phase 1: Online + Utah BEMS Application
After you receive your access code, you can begin the course. To unlock the full online modules, you must complete your Utah Bureau of EMS (BEMS) application (including the $119 fee) by the 30th day of the month that your cohort began in. You’ll also complete background clearance steps (fingerprinting/background check) using the DACS form Utah BEMS uploads to your account. Detailed instructions on completing these steps are provided inside your online course.
You must finish the 41 online chapters + final exam within 6 months of your cohort start date.
Phase 2: Boot Camp
Once you have completed the online course, you must begin a boot camp within 60 days of passing the final exam. Boot Camp includes three 5-hour Zoom lecture nights (Mon–Wed, 5:00–10:00 PM) followed immediately by a 7-day in-person skills boot camp (Sat–Fri, 8:00 AM–6:00 PM). You must complete all online modules and the final exam before the first Zoom night, and you must attend the entire Boot Camp to pass.
Phase 3: NREMT Testing
After Boot Camp and submission of your final skills documentation, we’ll recommend you for NREMT testing within 2–3 weeks. After passing NREMT, you can pursue Utah licensure if you meet Utah BEMS requirements.
